This was a great event to be involved with and a great success.
Some of us didn't get to see much of it - we were too busy - serving
at the bar, cooking on the barbecue, and collecting tolls for the
Artisan Village. This sort of event really makes Tabling worthwhile.
41 Club and Ladies Circle were there in force too.

He's for the sack... |

The Woolsack races organised by ex-Tabler Bernie Ling proved popular,
with several ladies teams too. Had we not been so busy, we'd have
entered a team ourselves, of course.... Free transport on the Horse
& Cart - though Lady Godiva brought her own!

Do you have a smaller size? |
|
Lots for the kids to do too. As well as the bouncy castle and "joust",
there were events such as stilt-walking organised by Bluecoats PTA,
and lots to see in the Artisan Village, including a Falconer, Hedgewitch,
out trying armour and crossbows, a Wood-turner and so on. Not bad
for 50p!

Costume competition - not easy to judge. |

Ali
Vowles from BBC Points West - an ex KLB'er - presents the prizes
for the best children's costume. Philip Taubenheim from Wotton Auction
Rooms ran a very popular artefacts auction. Wandering minstrels
and fire-eaters kept the crowds entertained, as did Two Planks
and a Passion performed on the Haywain.

Hay! Just the job. |

Just the clearing up to do. Not as much fun sweeping up the hay as
spreading it about in the first place, especially when some of the
local teenagers decided to carry on spreading it about. Thanks to
Ex-Tabler John Newman who came to the rescue with his tractor.
Ex-Tabler Derek Aston chaired the commitee which organised this
event. Its success was due to the hard work of many people from
different organisations over several months. |
